Biography

Olena Haviuk-Sheremet is a Ukrainian-born concert pianist, and educator
whose artistry blends technical brilliance with deep interpretive insight. She received her Master’s degree from the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia in 2021. Her doctoral monograph, Perspectives on
Richard Strauss’s Early Compositions for Solo Piano, culminated in a celebrated
CD recording of these rarely performed works.


Olena made her piano concerto debut at the age of eight and gained
international recognition at ten, winning First Prize at the Vladimir Horowitz-
Debut International Young Pianists Competition in Kyiv. Her accolades continued
across Europe and the U.S., most recently securing Second Prize in the France
Music Competition.

A passionate advocate for classical music in the digital age, Olena’s recording of Maurice
Ravel’s Miroirs (Noctuelles) was awarded “Featured Sound” status on Wikimedia Commons in
2019 and was showcased on the main page of Wikipedia. This recognition highlighted her
interpretation as an exemplary resource linked in both English and Ukrainian Wikipedia articles.


An active soloist and collaborative pianist, she has performed at numerous international
festivals and works closely with world-renowned violinist Midori and her students. In 2022,
Olena and her husband Roman Sheremet founded the Sheremet School of Talents in Bensalem,
Pennsylvania, an inspiring space for music and arts education.


Currently based in Philadelphia, Olena is the rehearsal pianist for world-
renowned violinist Midori and continues to appear on international stages,
championing a wide repertoire with passion and elegance.
